Back to School:
With August here, the busy season of school draws near. My days are filling even now, as I prepare to teach grades I’ve never taught before. It’s exciting, sure to be challenging, and God’s grace will be enough, but I do covet your prayers.
- This year I’m using Ligonier’s “Growing in God’s Word” for my Bible curriculum.
- I’m planning to decorate my classroom with this bright and cheerful theme.
- Writers, this one is for you. GCD Writers’ Mentoring Cohort, begins Sept. 24, 2026. I participated in the cohort two years ago. It blessed me and improved my writing immensely. I highly recommend it!

Life Through My {Camera} Lens

Hubby and I had our get-a-way to Gaspe, QC in early July. It was a lovely time. As I had hoped, I took lots of pictures. On our way home, we drove the old highway which skirts the coastline. We found a very cool cafe, which doubled as a very large antique store (Bored Whale). We grabbed a lunch to go, and found a quiet beach to have a picnic. This was our view. This verse comes to mind every time I look at this picture:
“Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Ps. 73:25-26

While hubby fly-fished for the elusive Atlantic salmon, I wandered the neighborhood with my camera in hopes to find some beauty to capture. At first it seemed that there was nothing exceptional to bother photographing. But as I slowed down, these tiny flowers dancing along the edge of a parking lot caught my eye. Goes to show that our first glances often miss the beauty that may be right before our eyes.

The sun sets on a stunning historic church, which is the focal point of this small town; and yet, is it?

One day (my birthday!), we drove around and discovered some beautiful landscape views of the interior of the Gaspe, including this view of a portion of the Chic-Choc mountain range (which is a part of the Appalachian Mountains). We then celebrated our anniversary and birthdays with a lovely seafood supper; and cheesecake for dessert. The French know how to do good food.
